It's Official.........The World's Insane!

As we were walking around our local garden centre, looking for some inspiration for Christmas presents, it soon became very apparent that madness has now fully taken hold.
For some strange reason unbeknown to me, the Dr.Who series appears to have taken the UK by the short and curlies, and dominates the newspapers, radio, and even the world news coverage on the BBC. Alright, I know it's been going now for 50 'golden' years, but it's a tv series. I would say 'get a grip people', but unfortunately, like a zombie invasion, it has infected society to a level that's uncontrollable.
To this point I bring you item one on my insane world agenda for today, the Dr.Who themed fish tank.......poor fish!

Just one other of the items that caught my eye there was this. Now don't get me wrong, there have been some areas of good taste in the garden where I have gone drastically wrong over the years, and to this day make Amanda shake her head and moan in despair, particularly when we discuss water feature styles for our own garden. Another is my hankering for multi coloured Christmas lights to adorn a couple of trees in the garden. Heck, I even have a tiny stone meerkat hidden out there myself somewhere. But this didn't so much catch my eyes, as burn them out. A two foot high plastic meerkat golfer, complete with solar powered uplight, so that the fellow can haunt you in the shrub border in the middle of the night.........nice!

I was just going to mention a few of these things as I sit here in the lounge, on a dull Wednesday morning, sipping my pre-work cups of tea, but as usual I checked out the news first, and came across this little nugget of information. The World Food Prize Foundation is to reward Monsanto and Syngenta for creating GMO's, with the Nobel Prize for Agriculture!

I'm not sure what Hobie makes of all of this. I don't think he's too impressed.

  1. Whether it is a plastic meerkat golfer or Monsanto, sometimes you can't help feeling you don't belong here.

  2. I think that Christmas is a time for a complete suspension of anything remotely resembling good taste. (My house included!)

  4. Malik, thanks for the nice comments, but using yourself to advertise such a mundane thing as solar power is pretty sad. If I should ever choose to install solar power, which is highly unlikely, I will go in person to a local authorised dealer, and not instead buy from a dodgy online advertiser who uses other peoples online platforms for free publicity. Have you tried a more professional approach?

  5. And anyone who comes here, don't click on the 'solar' link.
