Whitesands Bay

It's been a struggle, I can't deny that, but the body does what it does, and we have to cope the best we can. Energy and motivation are quite low still, and so we took ourselves off for a week with the family to a place of retreat that as a couple we go to now and again. Celia, Claire, Dom, Joshua, Ella, Bex and Matt, and us two made for an interesting mix, as we have never all been together for more than just a few hours at a time, but it all went rather well.

We travelled in three vehicles as a convoy to St. David's in Pembrokeshire, and prepared to set up our tents for the week. As a first for me, we forgot the tent poles, but hastily turned the van into our home complete with fairy lights and heater.

We had all come to this place with our various issues and tensions, but over the first couple of day's it was good to see people slowly 'switch off' and find their own head space.

We took them to one particular place that is close to both of our hearts, a headland that faces Ramsey Island, and here we talked, ate and rested.

Matt has made this movie of it.

  1. I was just thinking about you, wondering how the two of you are doing, since you've not posted in awhile.

So good to see this and to read that you had a nice time with all of the family together.

I can see why you and Amanda love this place. It speaks to your soul, relaxes your mind and body, inspires and is just wonderful.

I really enjoyed Matt's movie. It was really well done, with stills and real time video. Flowers, critters, birds, water, craggy rocks, sky, architecture, a different way of life from over here in the US. So much ancient history. I liked the transition from fast paced city life, to quiet life, then back again.

I thank him for sharing your shared adventure, and thank you for sharing it here on your blog.

May you grow stronger/healthier with each new day.

Love, hugs & prayers for you and your lovely Amanda ~ FlowerLady

  3. A body's recovery is an odd thing.....
It takes months to get back to some sort of normality gary
And mentally the upward journey is more difficult

  5. So good to see you posting again.
Don't worry to much, it takes time and you have a good strong love between the two of you.
As you know we have been there, Tom has had heart attack, 3 bouts of P E's and various other ailments over the years but we have been made all the stronger for this.
We are now 70 and 76 and still so much in love and I'm sure that all we have been through is the reason for this.
So pleased you had a lovely relaxing weekend and look forward to some more posts.
