Bugs over for me!

Woke up this morning feeling much better myself, but unfortunately Amanda is still feeling groggy. Decided to make us both several cups of the good old warm and wet stuff before doing anything! We had arranged to go to a friend of hers this morning to do some work on her apple trees, and so instead of the nice and early start that was intended, we arrived at around 11am.

As every gardener knows, tea is life blood and so having downed yet another that had been made by our host, I set about the pruning with renewed vigour.

All in all only an hours work from start to finish, sky isn't looking too promising!

I had to get some jeans afterwards and so we went shopping and coffeeing and on returning home I decided that it's time to get the blue beast out of it's winter hibernation and up and running and first job....charge the battery...!

From that point the heavens opened up and the rain started to come down in torrents, seems to be the things are permanently now....groan! Still, below are a couple of piccies from last summer that we took at Exbury Gardens.....a bit more cheerful!

Prunus serrula

Just a nice blue Hydrangea that was buried almost out of site under some bushes

  1. Dear Gary, I have discovered your site via 'A Chef in the Garden' and am intrigued to see that you were previously at Compton Acres. Although I have, sadly, never visited that garden, my mother in the 1950s [long before your time!] was a regular visitor and loved it.

Living on the Hampshire/Dorset borders you are within easy reach of many fine gardens - Mapperton, Athelhampton, Heale House and Exbury are among some of my favourites.

I have added myself as a 'Follower' so that I shall not miss your future postings.

  2. Gary, I enjoyed reading your posts and see that you all have had to deal with rain as much as we have. I guess one should expect that of England?? Sorry to hear about your bug. All your photos of tea make me want a good English cuppa'!
