Special Tiles

I will tell you something about our wonderful time in Bath during the weekend. Work has been frantic and so all the photos are either still on the camera or Amandas phone, and they need putting on the puty before I pick some out. In the meantime however, let me show you something of a new tile wall that has been made near Bournemouth Pier. Each tile represents a life lost to AIDS in Dorset. No more to comment on as it left us very quiet for quite some time while looking at it, and so I shall leave you with the pictures for you to make up your own thoughts.

  2. This looks similar to the quilts made here. Each block for a person. I remember seeing a traveling AIDS quilt exhibit in college. I like how the tiles are for that town and are always on display.

  3. Thanks for dropping by. I think the simplicity in the design reflects the simplicity in the message really nicely.

  4. Hi Sherlock,
I have seen some of those quilts made in the US. Incredibly skilled workmanship. It's very sobering to realise that there is so much suffering going on so close to oneself, and AIDS is just one of a number of illnesses.
