Blue's Back

It's Bank Holiday Monday here in the UK. We have to work. There will be other gardening companies out there having to do the same, but it feels strange nonetheless. A pang of guilt will be felt when the machinery such as the mower and blower are fired up, as those choosing to partake of holiday coffee and croissant on the patio will no doubt sigh a little. But we have good customers, and most have been warned beforehand.

We got the big garden, and made our first visit last week. A pleasure to work in, with some challenges to come.

We are only working today and tomorrow, as a break away to charge the body batteries is coming up, and these two days are going to be pretty full on. One property is where we recently purchased the wonderful shell pots in the picture below. The garden is going to be a work in progress for a couple of years, as improvements are made gradually. It's not easy to see in the picture, but these hand made beauties have blue and purple shells inlaid into the entire surface.

We have an hour to kill at the moment, and so I am doing this while Amanda second coats the paint on the kitchen re-furbish. The dressers are going to be purple, the range cooker red, and the sink cupboards dazzling white. We aren't very conventional.

I sat looking out of the window this morning, and noticed a hint of blue showing in the garden. The Himalayan Poppy has survived another winter outside, and is flowering once again.

Meconopsis betonicifolia, one of nature's true beauties.

  2. Good morning (here) Gary and Amanda,

The next couple of days sound busy, but having some time off after that to recharge yourselves sounds wonderful and will be well deserved.

I love the picture of Amanda. She looks lovely and happy. Love that purple color too that she is painting the dressers. I can just imagine how colorful and happy your place is.

Those shell planters are fantastic. I have a couple of huge shell covered planters with pink muhly grass growing in them. I like what you have growing in those planters, very striking.

Blues in the gardens are some of my favorites. Can't grow those blue poppies here, so I'll just enjoy yours.

    Enjoy your week ~ FlowerLady
